About the Forthquarter
The Forthquarter is an entirely new district within the City of Edinburgh. Commercial, residential, educational and leisure uses are developing alongside one another within a carefully master planned 110 acre site that represents one of the City’s largest, strategic, mixed use developments. Lying only 4 km from the city centre, yet with stunning views across the Forth Estuary and adjacent to the City’s greenbelt, the Forthquarter forms part of one of Europe’s most ambitious waterfront development projects.
The Forthquarter has benefited from enormous private and public sector investment in the Edinburgh waterfront. Tangible evidence of the City’s commitment to creating a waterfront of international stature is the significant infrastructure improvements that are already in place. These will be further enhanced with the completion of a rapid transit system linking the Waterfront to the city centre.
- The Forthquarter is directly linked to the city’s arterial road network, City Bypass, M8 and M9.
- The recently opened Waterfront Avenue and Waterfront Broadway provide direct links to the development and to the shore at the east.
- The city centre is only 10 minutes drive by car or taxi.
- There are several bus services to the city centre and a tram service is planned as the tramline is developed throughout the city, for more information please visit http://www.tramtime.com/.
- Edinburgh International Airport is 20 minutes by car with no need to pass through the city centre.
