Free Fun for all the family at North Edinburgh’s Community Festival
A fun filled afternoon is on offer at The Forthquarter Park in Granton between 12.00 noon and 4.00pm on Saturday 26th September as the North Edinburgh Community Festival gets underway.
Local organisations including North Edinburgh Trust, SACRO, EMERGE and Forth Neighbourhood Partnership have pulled together to build on the success of last year’s Community Gala and ensure that next weeks event is truly remarkable.
North Edinburgh Trust are launching an Eco Fair to launch the NET Your Carbons project,
Councillor Cammy Day said: “The Forth Neighbourhood Partnership is supporting this event, and hope it will be the first of many! This community festival is a great opportunity for local people to get together and see some of the many fantastic projects and services available throughout the local area. The Forthquarter Park is a brand new leisure facility for The Forth Ward and people from throughout the city should come and enjoy it.
Key event organiser Tracy Stewart of SACRO added: ‘ I see this as great opportunity for all generations to come together and change the negative stereotyping they have of one another by celebrating North Edinburgh as a whole. We have also organised a ‘Talent Show’ to show case the many different talents in North Edinburgh.’
In addition to the Talent Show, Smoothie Cycle, Bouncy Castle, Boogie Bus the Earth-ball to keep you amused, the event is an opportunity for people to learn about local projects and services in the area. All local agencies will bring along their own information and be on hand to answer any questions on local provision.
Treasure Hunt and local walks with ‘Living Streets’ have been arranged to help you discover what an amazingly vibrant community and wonderful leisure and recreational facilities can be found beside North Edinburgh’s Waterfront.
Jim Moore of National Grid said: “This is the second year we have hosted a community event in the park, we hope that everyone attending will enjoy the event and take the opportunity to discover and explore the 20 acres of natural open space we have created here”.
Gates open at 12.00noon with entertainment until 4.00pm
Access from West Granton Road by car is via Edinburgh’s Telford College entrance.
On foot or cycle please use the South Gate further along towards Pennywell roundabout.
The Forthquarter is well served by bus with range of frequent services including: 8, 14, 16, 17, 29, 32 and 47.
