Community Festival scores a hat trick as sunshine brings out the crowds

The Forthquarter Park at Granton was the place to be on Saturday 25th September. The park was the venue for the 3rd annual North Edinburgh Community Festival, which was bigger and better than ever before.

Local organisations including Forth Neighbourhood Partnership, Pilton Community Health Project, National Grid, SACRO, North Edinburgh Trust and Granton Churches organisation EMERGE pulled together to build on the success of previous years.

The Community Festival provides a fantastic opportunity for local residents old and new to meet each other and learn about projects and services available in their local area.

After a cold start to the day, the sun came out bringing with it the people of North Edinburgh who stayed to enjoy an afternoon of entertainment. Leith FM broadcast live from the event and people took advantage of the huge range of free activities on offer including Laser Quest, Face Painting, 5 a side football and a BMX obstacle course.

National Grid hosted the Festival, which with an estimated 2000 people attending was hailed as a great success, at its waterfront development The Forthquarter. The company instigated the first festival in 2008 and continue support to support the event as it presents a great opportunity for local people to discover and explore The Forthquarterıs 20 acres of natural open space, learn about successes to date; plans for the future and comment on how this regeneration project impacts on their neighbourhood.
